
Melissa Crystal O'Neil was born July 12, 1988[1].] She is a Canadian actress and singer. O'Neil is the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's 3rd season, won it in 2005. O'Neil is most well-known as an actress because of her performances in the series Syfy as Two or RebeccaAs Two / Portia Lin and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama The Rookie. She was voted in the bottom three spots and two contestants were eliminated. The judges were stunned by this and encouraged viewers to decide to vote Melissa for her voice talents. O'Neil's performances were always praised and O'Neil did not fall back to the bottom 3. Zack Werner, the judge, called O'Neil "a threat to win it all". On September 7, 2005 O'Neil made it into the final two stages of the show, competing alongside Rex Goudie, and after another stunning performance she was praised by judge Werner famously announced that the headlines in the next day's newspapers would read "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away Long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand final results show, September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005. She was also crowned the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
